Em Ivy Tenondé, Xadalu Tupã Jekupé narra a criação do primeiro mundo. Do inverno absoluto e escuro do útero do universo, os ventos anunciam a primavera e a preparação da terra. Os dois primeiros habitantes surgem iluminados pela luz do próprio coração, conduzidos por jacarés celestiais, enquanto o barco de Deus, suspenso entre céu e terra, aguarda sua passagem antes de partir. Criada especialmente para o Museu Nacional de Belas Artes (MNBA), a obra conecta a cosmogonia indígena à história da instituição, a primeira coleção pública de arte do país. Nesse gesto, Xadalu entrelaça tradição ancestral e contemporaneidade, propondo um museu que também acolhe narrativas originárias e reatualiza seu sentido no presente.

In Ivy Tenondé, Xadalu Tupã Jekupé narrates the creation of the first world. From the absolute and dark winter of the womb of the universe, the winds announce spring and the preparation of the earth. The first two inhabitants appear illuminated by the light of their own hearts, led by celestial alligators, while God’s boat, suspended between heaven and earth, waits for them to pass before departing. Created especially for the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA), the work connects indigenous cosmogony to the history of the institution, the country’s first public art collection. In this gesture, Xadalu intertwines ancestral tradition and contemporaneity, proposing a museum that also welcomes original narratives and updates their meaning in the present.
